Το Σαββατοκύριακο (8-9/4) είχαμε στα Λεύκαρα τον Αγώνα Lefkara Country Run and Vertical Challenge. Ένα διήμερο γεμάτο τρέξιμο, ένα δρομικό φεστιβάλ που παρόμοιό του δεν ξαναέγινε στην Κύπρο. Πριν από δύο χρόνια ξεκινήσαμε την προσπάθεια έχοντας τους δύο αγώνες σε διαφορετικές χρονικές περιόδους, το Vertical την Άνοιξη και το Country Run το Φθινόπωρο.
Από φέτος τολμήσαμε οι δύο αγώνες να διεξάγονται σε ένα Σαββατοκύριακο δημιουργώντας ένα challenge, δίνοντας στους δρομείς που επιθυμούν την επιλογή να τρέξουν και τις δύο ημέρες (Vertical και 13 χιλιόμετρα ή Vertical και 23 χιλιόμετρα), με επιπλέον κίνητρο να τους περιμένει στον τερματισμό μια finisher φανέλα ειδικά σχεδιασμένη για τη διοργάνωση.
Οι εγγραφές είχαν ξεπεράσει τις προσδοκίες φτάνοντας τις τετρακόσιες, ενώ από αυτούς σαράντα επτά δρομείς έτρεξαν και τις δυο ημέρες.
Τα Λεύκαρα, που είναι έτσι και αλλιώς ένας υπέροχος και προσφιλής προορισμός για τα Σαββατοκύριακα, γέμισαν με δρομείς δημιουργώντας μια πολύ ευχάριστη ατμόσφαιρα.
Το Διήμερο δρομικό φεστιβάλ ξεκίνησε το απόγευμα του Σαββάτου 8/4 με έναν ιδιαίτερα απαιτητικό αγώνα, αφού πάρα τη σχετικά μικρή απόσταση (4 χιλιόμετρων) έχει συνολική θετική υψομετρική διαφορά 450 μέτρα (ούτε μέτρο ευθεία, μόνο ανήφορο).
Νικητής στο Vertical challenge o Ilya Slepov με 00:21:23 επιτυγχάνοντας ρεκόρ διαδρομής ξεπερνώντας κατά 9 δευτερόλεπτα την επίδοση που κατείχε από το 2022 ο Vladimir Shcheblykin. Στη δεύτερη θέση ο Tomas Jancovic με χρόνο 00:22:28 και τρίτος ο Μάρκος Σπανός με χρόνο 00:22:50.
Στις γυναίκες πρώτη τερμάτισε η Anastasia Chelysheva 00:25:50 επίσης με νέο ρεκόρ διαδρομής για γυναίκες. Στη δεύτερη θέση η Ελίνα Σοφοκλέους με χρόνο 00:27:09 και τρίτη η περσινή νικήτρια Λουΐζα Τσιανάκκα με χρόνο 00:28:32.
Την Κυριακή 9/4 είχαμε τους αγώνες Country Run 13 και 23 χιλιόμετρα. Στον Αγώνα των 23 χιλιόμετρων είχαμε νικητή Overall την Σκοτσέζα JemimaFarley, μια εξαιρετική δρομέα υψηλών επιδόσεων με χρόνο 1:44:50. Δεύτερη στις γυναίκες η κάτοχος του Παγκύπριου ρεκόρ στον μαραθώνιο Dagmara Handzlik με χρόνο 02:07:04 και τρίτη η Έλενα Στυλιανού με χρόνο 02:11:08.
Στους άντρες πρώτευσαν οι Tomas Jancovic με χρόνο 01:52:45, Γιάννος Εφέ με 01:53:42 και Nikita Mikhailov με χρόνο 01:55:43.
Στον αγώνα των 13 χιλιόμετρων είχαμε νικητές στους άντρες τους: Αντρέας Ζένιος με 00:57:47, στη δεύτερη θέση ο Μάρκος Σπανός με 01:01:07 ενώ την τρίτη θέση κατέλαβε ο Παύλος Στυλιανού με χρόνο 01:01:59.
Στις γυναίκες πρώτη τερμάτισε η Ελίνα Σοφοκλέους με χρόνο 01:09:43, δεύτερη η Ευαγγελία Φελλά με χρόνο 01:14:00 και τρίτη η Αγάθη Πολυκάρπου με χρόνο 01:15:17.
Ιδιαίτερες ευχαριστίες στον Δήμο Λευκάρων για την στήριξη την προσπάθειά μας, καθώς και στους χορηγούς της διοργάνωσης.
3rd Race “Lefkara Country Run and Vertical Challenge”
On the weekend (8-9/4) Lefkara Country Run and Vertical Challenge was held at Lefkara.
Two days full of races, a festival, and a feast of running unprecedented in Cyprus. We never had something like that. Two years ago we began the project, having those two races at different periods of time: Vertical in Spring and Country Run in Autumn (Fall).
This year we ventured the two races to be held in one weekend creating a challenge, offering to runners who want the option to run both days. (Vertical and 13 km or Vertical and 23 km), with an extra motivation of a finisher T-SHIRT waiting for them at the finish line, specially designed for the event.
Registrations were beyond expectations reaching 400, while 47 runners participated in both races.
Lefkara, which is anyway a marvelous and beloved destination for weekends, was full of runners, making a wonderful atmosphere, like a party.
The two-day running festival began on Saturday afternoon (8/04) with a very demanding race, since even though a rather small distance (4 km), it has an overall positive altitude difference of 450 meters (not even one meter straight, only upslope).
The winner in the men’s category on the Vertical challenge was Ilya Slepov 00:21:23 achieving a record of the route, exceeding 9 seconds ο Vladimir Shcheblykin’s performance in 2022. In second place Tomas Jancovic ended (00:22:28) and in third place Markos Spanos, with a time of 00:22:50.
In the women’s category, the winner was η Anastasia Chelysheva 00:25:50, also having a new record of the route for women. In second place Elina Sophokleous with time 00:27:09, while Louisa Tsianakka, last year’s winner, finished third, with time 00:28:32.
On Sunday 9/4 Country Run 13 και 23 km was held. On the 23 km race, we had an overall winner the Scottish Jemima Farley, an excellent runner of high performances, with a time of 01:44:50. The second winner was Dagmara Handzlik, who has a Pancyprian record for a Marathon, with a time of 02:07:04. The third winner was Elena Stylianou, with time 02:11:08.
In the men’s category, first was Tomas Jancovic with a time of 01:52:45, Giannos Efe with a time of 01:53:42, and the third winner was Nikita Mikhailov with a time of 01:55:43.
As for the 13 km race, in the men’s category, Andreas Zenios was the winner, with a time of 00:57:47. In second place Markos Spanos, with a time of 01:01:07, and in third place Pavlos Stylianou with a time of 01:01:59.
As for the women’s category, the first finisher was Elina Sofokleous with a time of 01:09:43, in the second place was Evangelia Fella with a time of 01:14:00, and the third winner was Agathi Polykarpou, with a time of 01:15:17.
